Marine Collagen or Whey Protein?

Marine Collagen or Whey Protein?

First things first, get your diet right. If your diet isn’t right for you none of what we are about to talk about even matters. I met a guy once who didn’t eat a single veg, he thought if he had a ‘multi’ vitamin he didn’t need veg. So start with the basics and get your foundation right before considering supplementation.

Now, in the battle between Whey Protein or Collagen Protein. Which one is best for you?

It’s important we understand what each product does and their benefits and how they differentiate from each other. Hell, you might actually just start taking both.

Whey Protein:

Whey is an excellent source of protein, it’s a complete protein too that can be absorbed by your body rapidly. Whey protein for the longest time has been the go-to for body builders for its branched amino acid content. It’s extremely high in the amino acid leucine which is required for muscle synthesis post-exercise. Whey protein powder seems to have the protein market basically sown up with athletes, bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts, and its popularity is set to continue.

Marine Collagen:

Collagen is the most abundant protein in your body, but as we get older the natural production of collagen dies down. So it makes sense to supplement what we lose as we get older.

One of the key differences in UNCHARTED Marine Collagen is that ours is extremely high in three amino acids: glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline.

Collagen is found in the connective tissues and when we think about how our ancestors or great grandparents ate, it was the nose-to-tail eating habits. Every piece of the animal had use. Now a days our diet largely does not incorporate these connective tissues which means the modern day diet is fairly low in these important amino acids. So again, it makes sense to supplement what we are missing.

Marine Collagen: Pre-work out? Yes, it’s a wise move.

The two serious amino acids found in Uncharted Collagen are glycine and arginine which can help in the secretion of growth hormone, they are also key building blocks of creatine (muscle contraction during a workout depends on creatine), and what’s really cool is that it increases the nitric oxide. If your aim is to take your workout to Uncharted territory, then this could be a nonnegotiable for you.

Type II Collagen

And we need to stay active, what good is all your training if you’re injured? UNCHARTED Marine Collagen is one of the very few proteins on the market that have Type II collagen.

Type II collagen is one of the main proteins in your cartilage. UNCHARTED Marine Collagen may help maintain the integrity of your cartilage, the rubber-like tissue that protects your joints, and there is growing evidence that collagen promotes an anabolic effect on cartilage tissue. No other type of protein has this effect – none. Most people train to push themselves to get that PB. Our bodies when at their limits cannot sustain chronic joint pain or acute aches which can hinder your ability to reach new PBs.

UNCHARTED Marine Collagen may improve bone health and help with recovery and injury

Our bones are mainly made up of collagen. As we age our collagen production diminishes therefore so do our bones. High impact training over and over again can see pressure on our skeletal system to sustain the intensity and output we desire. Collagen can increase bone density and mineralization minimising broken bones and density loss.

UNCHARTED Marine Collagen has an anti-inflammatory effect on the body. This is good news for recovery and injury. Injury always seems to come at the most crucial time when we need to be performing.

Uncharted Strength and Immunity

Not only strengthening the lining of the gut, UNCHARTED Marine Collagen also contains some of the essential amino acids to enable muscle protein synthesis – commonly known as muscle building. Remember Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body!

UNCHARTED Marine Collagen contains your best friend glycine, not only does this amino acid help you sleep but the amino acid supports the body’s system by having an anti-inflammatory and immune supporting effect on the body.

There are many more benefits including sleep, but here is the thing: what you now know is that collagen isn’t just for beauty. It’s a requirement for anyone serious about training, keeping in shape and staying in their prime.

So bottom line – whey or collagen protein?

What should not be surprising is I don’t believe it’s one or the other. I still personally take whey protein because I believe everything in moderation that works for my body, and I don’t like the idea of missing out on benefits my body could be receiving. Looking at the two together they have different benefits and perhaps look at what suits your goals. Personally I like the best of both worlds. But if I had to choose (which I wouldn’t) I’d be choosing UNCHARTED Marine Collagen hands down – it packs a punch with the protein and the amino acids I need, and it supports the strength and integrity of everything else in my body like joints, cartilage, bones, and gut.

UNCHARTED Marine Collagen is a staple in our house and will continue to be. The benefits don’t just reside in beauty.

Grab some UNCHARTED Marine Collagen here and see how you feel, you might just see what we see, and this fine white powder becomes your daily nonnegotiable.
